Load Analysis

Roller Deflection Calculator for Industrial Rolls

Estimate theoretical roll deflection under defined load, span, section geometry and material modulus.

Input Parameters

Every input uses canonical SI conversion before calculation. Do not use unknown material values without verification.

What is a Roller Deflection Calculator?

This tool estimates theoretical maximum deflection for a simply supported roll under a central point load or full-span uniformly distributed load.

Formula Used

Central point load: delta = P L^3 / (48 E I). Uniform distributed load: delta = 5 W L^3 / (384 E I). Section I = pi/64 x (Do^4 - Di^4).

Assumptions and Limits

The tool uses an ideal simply supported beam model and does not include dynamic loading, temperature, shell/core construction complexity, bearing flexibility or rubber viscoelastic behavior.

FAQs

Is this the final manufacturing camber?

No. It is theoretical beam deflection. Manufacturing camber should be reviewed with actual process and calibration data.

What if my support condition is different?

Select engineering review. Maitrix can develop custom logic for your exact support, load and machine configuration.

Engineering Calculation Notice

Calculations are provided as engineering estimation tools based on the inputs, equations and assumptions shown. Actual performance may vary depending on machine configuration, materials, loading conditions, temperature, dynamic effects and operating environment. Final manufacturing or safety-critical decisions should be reviewed by a qualified engineer.
